Just noticed that, in the list, the languages of both Farsi and Persian do exist.
In fact, I earned KudoZ in English to both of them - and now I wonder if there is anyone in the staff who could explain to me the difference between these two languages.

Both terms refer to the same language. The word "Persian" derives from the Iranian province of Pars, which was the dominant area in the Persian empire. This region was referred to as "Fars" by the Arabs, as Arabic doesn't have a "p" sound. When Persia adopted the Arabic alphabet, they invented a new letter for "p," but the Arabacized name of "Farsi" has stuck.

Yes, Richard, I know. This was only meant as a humorous invitation to the staff to delete one of the two. So sad if someone looks for a Farsi-English translator and can't find anyone because there are only Persian-English translators in the database...

Best regards
Matthias

Even sadder if someone is looking for a Farsi-Persian translator.
