English to Turkish: From Tropic Thunder Movie General field: Other Detailed field: Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
Source text - English "Tropic Thunder - 2008"
- Everybody knows you never go full retard.
- What do you mean?
- Check it out. Dustin Hoffman, "Rain Man", look retarded, act retarded, not retarded. Counted toothpicks, cheated cards. Autistic, sure. Not retarded. You know, Tom Hanks, "Forrest Gump". Slow, yes. Retarded, maybe. Braces on his legs. But he charmed the pants off Nixon and won a ping-pong competition. That ain’t retarded. And he was a god-damn war hero! You know any retarded war heroes? You went full retard, man. Never go full retard. You don’t buy that? Ask Sean Penn, 2001, "I Am Sam", Remember? Went full retard. Went home empty handed.
Translation - Turkish Tropik Fırtına (2008)
- “Asla tam bir geri zekalılık etmediğini herkes biliyor.”
- “Ne demek istiyorsun?”
- “Şunu bir düşün. Dustin Hoffman, ‘Yağmur Adam’, geri zekalı görünüyordu, geri zekalı davranıyordu, ama geri zekalı değildi. Kürdanları saydı, oyun kartlarıyla hile yaptı. Otistikti elbette ama geri zekalı değildi. Bilirsin, Tom Hanks, ‘Forrest Gump’. Yavaştı, evet. Belki de geri zekalıydı. Bacaklarında metal destekler vardı ama Nixon'u baştan çıkardı ve masatenisi yarışmasını kazandı. Bunlar geri zekalıca değildi. Ayrıca lanet bir savaş kahramanıydı! Geri zekalı savaş kahramanı hiç tanıyor musun? Tam bir geri zekalılık ettin adamım. Asla tam bir geri zekalı olma. Bunu yapma! Sean Penn'e sor, 2001, ‘Benim adım Sam’. Hatırlıyor musun? Tam bir geri zekalılık etti. Eve elleri boş gitti.”

Translation - English -“How will the weather be, captain?”
-“God willing”
-“Let's hope for the best”
-“Good health to you”
-“Do not worry, man!”
-“I hope nothing's wrong”
There are so many expression on these lands which don't have their equivalents in other realms. Each of them is unique to us, special to this language. Which one of them can you translate justly?
-“May it be easy, guys”
-“Thank you”
-“May it be easy”
-“Thank you”
-“Bravo”
-“God bless your hands”
-“Everything comes to him who waits”
and many other ones…
All the expressions which always include optimism, hope, happiness in them.
-“Whatever will be, will be”
“it happens”
So we admired to have this matchless optimism which couln't be found in other places of the world and we wanted to write our names in English as the expressions are our emotions from the heart.
-“May it be easy, deary”
