Source text - English Vatni er dælt úr borholum í dælustöð og þaðan ýmist beint til notenda eða í heitavatnstanka. Úr heitavatnstönkum rennur vatn til notenda og í sumum tilfellum er því dælt til notenda. Frá notendum rennur bakvatn til baka í dælustöð þar sem því er blandað í heitara vatn til að kæla það. Vatn frá dælustöð er ekki heitara en 80°C en vatn úr borholum og jarðhitavirkjunum er oft heitara.
Ávallt er leitast við að halda ofanvatni aðskildu frá skólpi. Áður fyrr var almenna reglan þó sú að ofanvatni var veitt í skólplagnir. Um þriðjungur fráveitulagna fyrirækisins eru frá þeim tíma og taka því við blöndu skólps og ofanvatns. Losun óhreinsaðs skólps um yfirföll er órjúfanlegur hluti af rekstri slíkra fráveitukerfa. Langtímasýn fyrirtækisins, sem kemur fram í heildarstefnu þess, er að útrýma losun óhreinsaðs skólps um yfirföll.
Translation - Icelandic Water is pumped from wells to a pump station, and from there either directly to consumers or to hot-water tanks. Water runs directly from the tanks to consumers and in some cases, it is discharged to them. Return water runs back from the consumers to the pump station, where it is mixed with hotter water to cool it. Water from a pump station is no hotter than 80°C, but water from wells and geothermal power stations is frequently hotter.
The aim is always to keep surface water separated from sewage. In the past, however, the general rule was that surface water was channelled into sewage pipelines. About a third of the company’s sewage pipes are from that time and they therefore receive a mixture of sewage and surface water. The discharge of untreated sewage through overflows is an inseparable part of operating such sewage systems. Our long-term vision, stated in our comprehensive policy, is to terminate the discharge of untreated sewage through overflow.

Bio
I am a native Icelandic speaker. I have a master's degree in Applied Translation Studies from the University of Iceland, with both English and German as source languages. My thesis topic was language policy in translation in the Icelandic media. I also have a bachelor's degree in German (major) and Latin (minor) and a PgDip. in Media and Communication Studies from the same institution. Outside of Iceland, I have worked both in Germany and the UK. I have experience in subtitling, translating, post-editing and proofreading, as well as prooflistening for audio books. I've also published my own radio episode and been on live radio. In the summer of 2020, I led a project that resulted in the publishing of an online termbank with vocabulary in the field of space science.
