I think you can safely go for shock absorbtiop. If you google it, you will find much more results for shock than impact, in connection with helmets.

: yes; if "impact" is to be used, then Noha could put "the ability to deaden impact" // agreed; there are also examples on the net of "shock absorbent helmets" if she wants that.
