Arabic term

Ihan/Ehan

Arabic to English Other Names (personal, company)
I need to know the meaning of this word along with spelling and roots (maddah) in Arabic. I got this from a web site of names and therefore I need to be sure. My purpose is to name my newly- born baby boy.

Thanks in Advance.

Lamis, I will consider your suggestion. Amira, mine is son, so I cannot name him Saffeia or Salma. I also think that Ehan is not Arabic. Probably I will name my baby 'Afeef' or 'Affaan'. I think they have no problem with gender, sound nice and have good meaning. Thanks for participation.
Mohsin Alabdali Nov 12, 2007:
I saw the link Chowdhury sahib. You are right there is Ehan and the meaning given is full moon. I do not think that is Arabic. But of course I could be wrong. However, I think a good sounding Bangali name like Delawar is worth considering.
Lamis Maalouf Nov 12, 2007:
As a mother and a teacher, may I offer an advice? Please don't give your children dual gender names. They will face trouble when they grow up and they will not appreciate it.
Chowdhury (asker) Nov 12, 2007:
Hi Mohsin, thanks for wish. Please see this link. http://www.muslim-names.co.uk/muslim-baby-boy-names-E-1.html

It says it is 'Ehan' and the meaning given is 'full moon'.
Mohsin Alabdali Nov 12, 2007:
Mabrook Chowdhury sahib. But are you sure the spelling is Ihan/Ehan not Ilham/Elham?

My answer is assuming that the correct spelling is Ilham/Elham.

It means "inspiration" and can be for both masculin and feminin. Among the famous masculin Ilham Almafa'i (the well known Iraqi singer) and the feminin Ilham Shaheen (the famous Egyptian movies star).
