French term

perspectives plus socialisantes

French to English Social Sciences Economics
How would you translate "perspectives plus socialisantes"?

Ceux-ci s'inspiraient, soit de tendances libérales pour la plus grande part (ainsi dans la ligne de l'autrichien devenu américain, Friedrich Hayek), soit dans des perspectives plus socialisantes procédant à une critique d'un nouveau capitalisme, voire franchement gauchisantes (Antonio Neri, Alain Badiou).

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Thanks to everyone who helped. I think this is it. To my mind, socialisantes is what Americans call liberal, or a bit to the left of that, but I can't use the word liberal here because it would be confusing. (Incidentally, I'm thinking of translating the French word "libérales" as "liberal" and glossing it as "in the Continental sense of the word.") Given that "socialisantes" is followed by "franchement gauchisantes" I was inclined to write "socially concerned" for the first and "openly leftist" for the second. I'll go with socially-oriented."

Views with more socialism leanings

leanings: tendances , inclinations
Peer comment(s):

disagree Richard Nice : the idea is basically right but "socialism leanings" is not an acceptable collocation in English
