'Fellow' is more common at the graduate level. Undergraduates have scholarships.

Marlene, that's exactly what I said. You are a candidate until you receive the degree. Bolsista is a 'fellow'; 'bolsa' is a fellowship. I worked on staff in the Registrar's office at Georgetown University for 5 years.
