to watch/observe/witness sth from a front-row seat

This is pretty close, I think. I thought about "watch from the sidelines", but then it often implies you'd like to participate, which is not necessarily the case in "assistir de camarote". In your example, it's closer to the sense that you will have a privileged view and enjoy the show. That is close to "to watch from a front-row seat", but it's not as often used to mean the same as in Portuguese, that is, I don't think it can cover all meanings of "assistir de camarote".

You're right. When I read the definition, I felt sth was amiss, however, I've heard some expressions being used in different ways here in the South. I thought it was another one of these cases, but for the suggestion, I followed my guts:). Tks.
agree Rafael Mantovani : "watch from the front row", tem mesmo uma música da Alanis Morisette chamada "front row" que usa isso justamente no sentido figurado.

I realize there's no direct equivalent of this Brazilian expression, but this is something close to it, and since your text is about sports I think it fits perfectly - although this is not just a sports idiom, it uses the sport analogy (sidelines)

hope this helps :)

Thanks Ralph :)
neutral Bentevi : This usually means "assistir do banco de reservas". It often implies you regret not being able to help/participate. In terms of being the most idiomatic, you're absolutely right. That doesn't necessarily mean it's equivalent. Yep, let us wait.

Well, I believe my suggestion is the most idiomatic expression posted so far, and it fits the definition of the Brz. expression "..... confusão ou briga. Não dar opinião, não participar" Let's wait for other suggestion, maybe closer IDIOMATIC EXPRESSIONS
