The above is from an article in a Spanish astronomy journal of 1914, about observations of the Madler crater.
I am not sure what is meant by "circo" here.

I believe this is a geographical term which refers to form of the crater.

The second reference, which is an article dealing with the geography of craters from the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada makes reference to the term.
Example sentence:

The southern and south-western parts of the rim are reasonable intact and form an impressive cirque of 180 degrees... (see ref 2, pg. 258)
