Spanish term
barrido por compresor
Spanish to English
Tech/Engineering
Automotive / Cars & Trucks
diesel engines
This is all I've got; the text is about diesel engines (for trucks):
Nace el (model no.), motor de dos tiempos y dos cilindros con barrido por compresor.
"Barrido" never comes up again...and the text goes on to talk about different models.
Based on my own research, I think "barrido" here may be "scavenge" or "scavenging" (not sure about that, but that's what it seems to be comparing the Wikipedia explanations in English and Spanish), but I don't know how the "por compresor" would be said. I didn't find a single ref. to this expression in Spanish.
Any help would be appreciated. TIA!

Note from asker:
Thanks, looks good--I found this: The use of a blower (compressor) for scavenging was becoming quite widespread... http://www.oldengine.org/members/diesel/Marine/bolinder.htm |

Comment: "Thanks, Cecilia, I think that was just what I needed, and I don't think I would ever have come up with it myself. Thanks to Carlos, too, for confirming the scavenging part."

scavenging by compressor
Yes, you're on the right track, "barrido" is scavenging in this context. You could render it:
two-stroke two-cylinder engine with scavenging by compressor.
or
two-stroke two-cylinder engine with scavenging compressor.
I prefer the latter.
two-stroke two-cylinder engine with scavenging by compressor.
or
two-stroke two-cylinder engine with scavenging compressor.
I prefer the latter.
Discussion
The Wikipedia text in English: Engines based on the two-stroke cycle use two strokes (one up, one down) for every power stroke. Since there are no dedicated intake or exhaust strokes, alternative methods must be used to scavenge the cylinders. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internal_combustion_engine
