Thanks in advance for help with this!
I get from this that we are adding the delay introduced by the filter to the calculated phase. I don't get the 50Hz. Is it a 50Hz filter? or am I adding 50Hz to the calculated phase? or.....?

The (phase) retardation introduced by the 50Hz filter is added to the calculated phase
This seems to be a case of using a low pass filter to introduce phase retardation.
Example sentence:
The phase lag of each filter was not affected by the number of sweeps used apart from a general smoothing effect. The lag for the 50 Hz filter is linear in the range 0 to 25 Hz at 5 deg/Hz.
Note from asker:
In this section it is discussing the use of a PLL (Phase Locked Loop) and the overall context is the protection of a fuel cell particularly when the grid is not present - in the case of islanding. |

: yep this looks correct but asker should supply more context

Thanks majoni. More context would help OK.

Thanks Christopher. "already" is a useful addition
