This is an expression in reference to an anecdote where two Argentine artists living in Paris were arrested in May 1968:

Poco después, el 23 de mayo, el artista viajó a México con motivo de su exposición en el Palacio de Bellas Artes y regresó los primeros días de junio. En este sentido, y no sin picardía, su amigo recuerda que volvió ansioso por participar de la revuelta; por eso fueron a Flins y “cayeron como chorlitos”.

Hola, Wendy. Lo que pedís es un equivalente del español al inglés y publicaste la pregunta como si fuera en>es. De cualquier forma, se me ocurre que podrías armar una expresión similar usando el adjetivo "naive" (un chorlito es una persona que carece de buen juicio o perspicacia y es fácil de engañar).
