Spanish term

Asociación de Parceleros

Spanish to English Social Sciences Names (personal, company) list of names of rural collectivities
just like that; previous to the above i've "Asociación de campesinos sin tierra" in the ST, I've translated it as Landless Peasants' Association".

Discussion

Sp-EnTranslator (asker) Dec 13, 2006:
Juan Jacob Dec 13, 2006:
Eduardo propone "landlord", casi/casi terrateniente. No sé.

Association of Smallholders

ie.e, people who own small parcels of land. Stricly speaking, they are indeed 'landowners', but that word doesn't have quite the same connotations as 'smallholders'.

The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization, at least, calls them 'smallholders': http://www.fao.org/docrep/006/j0415t/j0415t06.htm

agree Noni Gilbert Riley : Ah, yes. But does parcela necessarily mean a small plot?

association of landlords/landowners

Peer comment(s):

agree Noni Gilbert Riley : Landowners, however small the plot of land (landlord would suggest renting out)

agree BelkisDV : Landowners, it's a common expression in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
