The prophets of Israel yesterday and today

: Sorry to duplicate; I'm a slow writer! But I would say "The prophets of Israel" or "Israel's prophets"; I don't think Elijah can be referred to as "Israeli."

: Agree. While there may be some experts in the subject matter, I am inclined to think that it was a native English-speaking person would say; my option: "past and present". Un abrazo Jane.

now and then

: There's a big difference between "now and then" (occasionally, from time to time) and "then and now" (past and present). I don't think "now and then" would be appropriate here.
