According to Glosario marítimo (http://www.proteccioncivil.org/vademecum/vdm0256.htm) that's the definition of abra: Ensenada o bahía pequeña. Todo claro en la costa para abrigo de las embarcaciones, como la desembocadura de un río, etc.
