Turkish term

harici atılan paralar

Turkish to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) Coin-Operated Telescopes
Greetings,

I found the following inscription on a coin-operated telescope at the top of the İzmir Asansör:

1 TL ile çalışır. Harici atılan paralar iade edilemez.

All the best, and many thanks,

Simon

Respond to SeiTT : Yes that's what it means. To me, what it says on that telescope could have been more straight forward. I guess it's quiet an old one. Regards.
Note from asker:
many thanks - so is harici "hariç" plus "-i"? I.e. literally "other than it/that" i.e. "other than a one-lira coin"?

agree Emin Arı : just no change is fine

disagree Tim Drayton : This has nothing to do with change. If you put in two 50 kuruş coins, this is the correct amount, but it will neither operate nor will it return these. This is a warning not to insert anything apart from 1 TL coins.

If that would be the case though, I presume the machine would get jammed with all those coins inserted other than 1TL ( thinking that the machine is one which works as you insert 1TL and twist an arm to get it working)
disagree sinemakyuz : This has nothing related with the question
