Source text - English I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion. For most men, it appears to me, are in a strange uncertainty about it, whether it is of the devil or of God, and have somewhat hastily concluded that it is the chief end of man here to "glorify God and enjoy him forever.

Deutschland ist derzeit im Chaos versunken. Naja, ganz so schlimm ist es nicht – aber dieses Jahr haben besonders viele Streiks stattgefunden. Darüber möchte ich Euch heute etwas erzählen.
Es gibt in Deutschland viele Gewerkschaften. In einer Gewerkschaft tun sich Menschen zusammen, um ihre Arbeitssituation zu sichern und zu verbessern. Es gibt beispielsweise eine Gewerkschaft, die die Lokführer vertritt. Eine Gewerkschaft, die Dienstleistungsberufe vertritt. Eine Gewerkschaft für Ärzte, eine für Landwirte, eine für die Polizei und so weiter.
Eine Mitgliedschaft ist keine Pflicht – aber man kann sich in einer Gewerkschaft engagieren. Dazu wird man Mitglied und zahlt einen jährlichen Beitrag. Dafür bekommt man dann unterschiedliche Leistungen. Ich bin beispielsweise in einer Gewerkschaft, die mir rechtlichen Beistand gibt, wenn ich ein berufliches Problem habe. Sie bezahlt mir sozusagen einen Rechtsanwalt.
Die ersten deutschen Gewerkschaften gab es vor ungefähr 150 Jahren. Damals gab es Streiks und Arbeitskämpfe, weil die Arbeiterklasse am Existenzminimum lebte, während es den Unternehmern und Herrschenden so gut ging wie noch nie.
Heute sind die Forderungen ähnlich. Die Arbeiter wollen gerechte Löhne. Sie wollen genug Geld verdienen, um ihren Job gut machen zu können und gut leben zu können. In Deutschland streiken derzeit zwei Berufsgruppen: Die Lokführer und die Erzieher. Das bedeutet: Der Eisenbahnverkehr ist momentan sehr eingeschränkt, und die Kindergärten haben geschlossen. Eltern müssen Lösungen finden, wie ihre Kinder dennoch betreut werden können, damit sie weiter arbeiten können. Wer Großeltern in der Nähe hat, hat Glück. Viele andere nehmen die Kinder mit in die Arbeit, nehmen Urlaub oder wechseln sich mit der Kinderbetreuung ab. Eine schwierige Situation. Die Erzieher rufen währenddessen zu Demonstrationen auf und machen ihren Kampf sichtbar.

Alemania está actualmente sumida en el caos. Bueno, tampoco es tan grave, pero este año especialmente han tenido lugar muchas huelgas. Hoy quisiera contaros algo sobre esto.
En Alemania existen muchos sindicatos. Un sindicato es una agrupación de personas que se reúnen con el fin de mejorar y asegurar su situación laboral. Por ejemplo, hay un sindicato que representa a los maquinistas de los ferrocarriles; uno que representa a los profesionales del sector servicios; uno a los médicos, uno a los agricultores, uno a la policía, y así sucesivamente.
No es obligatorio estar afiliado a un sindicato para poder participar en él. Basta con hacerse miembro y pagar una cuota anual. A cambio, se ofrecen diferentes servicios. Yo, por ejemplo, pertenezco a un sindicato donde me proporcionan asesoramiento jurídico si tengo un problema laboral, es decir, me pagan un abogado.
Los primeros sindicatos en Alemania aparecieron hace aproximadamente 150 años. En aquel entonces las huelgas y conflictos laborales se debían a que la clase trabajadora apenas podía subsistir mientras a los empresarios y gobernantes les iba mejor que nunca.
Hoy las demandas son parecidas a las de entonces. Los trabajadores quieren salarios más justos. Exigen ganar suficiente dinero para poder hacer bien su trabajo y vivir bien. En este momento en Alemania hacen huelga dos grupos de profesionales: los maquinistas de ferrocarriles y los maestros de educación infantil. Esto se traduce en restricciones en el transporte ferroviario y en que han cerrado las guarderías. Los padres han de buscar soluciones para el cuidado de sus hijos mientras ellos van a trabajar. Quien tenga a los abuelos cerca, tiene suerte. Muchos otros llevan a sus hijos al trabajo, cogen vacaciones o se alternan para cuidarlos. Es una situación complicada. Los maestros, mientras tanto, convocan manifestaciones para hacer su lucha visible.

While I was studying Architecture, many years ago, I passed First Certificate from Cambridge, and after that I passed Oxford Higher Examination.
A few years later I approved the highest level Certificate of Proficiency in English from Cambridge University and since then I have been always working in Import-Export companies until now. Through this activity –and also on the side– I had the opportunity of acting as a simultaneous/consecutive translator in several fields (from building materials to Maxilofacial Surgery).
As I was always inclined to Languages and Translation, a few years ago decided to start my education as a Translator and Interpreter at university in three languages: English, German and Spanish.
I was born in Uruguay and have been living in Spain for 25 years, so I can manage accurately both Castilian and Southamerican (Rioplatense) Spanish.
Besides, as an Export Manager I had to travel very frequently to the U.K. and the U.S.A. for many years, consequently acquiring expertise both in British and American English.
By now, I have been working as a Translator and Interpreter, my two passions. I simply love to be able to translate not only the content of a text but also the sense the author wanted to express. This requires high skills of understanding and a full command of the target language and culture. I have it and I am convinced I do an excellent job in my translations. You have to be a writer to be able to translate and writing has always been my passion.
