German term

Schichtabschlüsse

German to English Other Business/Commerce (general)
Es überträgt die Verkaufsdaten der Points of Sale automatisch an das zentrale Leitsystem und macht die Verkäufe durch Umsatznachweise und Schichtabschlüsse transparent und nachvollziehbar.

This is a text about software for a new public transport ticketing system.

This is what I have so far: It transfers the sales data of the points of sale automatically to the central control system and makes the sales data clear and understandable through sales statements and (Schichtabschlüsse)

Does anyone have any suggestions how to translate this word into English? Thanks :-)

end of shift statements/shift totals

On an "old fashioned" cash register, this would be the "Z-tape", i.e. the total sales for each item (key) programmed. I would render "Umsatznachweise" as "sales audit trail" as the "Nachweise" is documentation allowing you to track the inidivual sales transactions.

shift takings OR shift changes (see below)

What they eman here is EITHER that the "transactions" or takings, for every shift, will be easily accessed with this new system, OR, the actual timing of every shift change.

end of shift procedure

I used to be a programmer for an EPoS systems company, and we (and our customers) used to refer to the "end of day procedure" or just "end of day", which entailed basically (in the days when computers were somewhat slower than they are today) compiling some basic stats and storing them in the appropriate databases, working out cash totals and comparing with actual cash in the till etc. This is the equivalent for shift changes.
