Laylak is pleased to present two stunning mixed-media pieces completed by the artist in 2009. These evocative images of urban landscapes use delicate sepia and grey washes to build texture and dimension for layered drawings of forms that could be eastern or western. Arched balustrades and domes are reminiscent of the mosque—yet a definitive ‘place’ is denied the viewer for something more emotional and abstract—a memory.
