the narrator tries to get some clues to figure out the girl. He sees her room and things, thinking that "Artifacts of a girl in motion" One who does not much are what people think. A confident girl who does not mind showing her room to boys even it is kind of a mess.
I am not sure about the word "girl in motion" Does it mean she is progressive or something. I really cannot figure out how one can use motion to describe character.
Thank you so much in advance for your help! I will appreciate your time and efforts here

the things that denote a go-getting girl
"In motion" here means not just being always physically on the go but always striving to do better and achieve more...at least that's the way this girl seems to be.
Every go-getter believes in their own strengths and capabilities to help deal with any obstacles. Doesn't give up. Always moves forward.
We are told she doesn't really care what other people think. It seems like she is pretty sure of herself "confident", and believes she can succeed if she puts her mind to it.
Probably passionate and enthusiastic about things as well.

artifacts of a girl that is immature yet/still maturing/naive
I think that is means that she is maturing (her peronality and life experience are under construction) because "in motion" means that something is happening, and I think that it's a metaphor that her identity as a girl is being built

Thank you sooo much. It helps a lot |

signs of a restless girl / signs of a girl constantly on the move
If you are looking for a paraphrase that does not repeat any of the words in the original phrase, these would be two possibilities.

Well, I have repeated "girl," but the other words are different.
If you don't want to repeate "girl," then "young woman," "adolescent," or "child" in accordance with the age of the character in question. :)

normally you would say "grass" so ok too
https://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/not let the grass grow ...
not let the grass grow under (one's) feet. To be continually active; to not stand still or be idle (thus giving the grass a chance to grow where you're standing). Don't let the grass grow under your feet, kid.
