Sorry, I missed Vic's additional note and would like to choose "argumentative writing" as the appropriate answer. Does anyone know if the selected answer can be changed? The saying: "More haste, less speed" is indeed true!

definitely "argumentative writing". Jarry´s dictionary definition n#2 (and 127000 mainly education-related hits)

neutral jarry (X) : argumentative: 1. given to arguing; 2. characterised by argument; 3. controversial. Because of the ambiguity of the word, I believe that any native speaker would want to avoid it in this context.
