Dutch term

een stricturerende, oppervlakkig groeiende massa

Dutch to English Medical Medical (general)
"Een zonder intraluminaal contrast gemaakte CT-scan van het abdomen toonde diverticulose ter plaatse van het sigmoid, zonder aanwijzingen voor diverticulitis, en een niet-ontplooid colon descendens en sigmoid, waardoor een stricturerende, oppervlakkig groeiende massa niet kon worden uitgesloten."

The context is a constipated patient who developed megacolon while being treated with lactulose. Patient also had ileus and diverticulosis.

Many thanks in advance for any ideas.

a superficially growing mass resulting in a stricturing

Definitely "stricturing' i.e.: a narrowing or obstruction. See Van Dale Groot Woordenboek under 'stricture'. I'm in doubt, however, whether the word can be used as an adjective (a stricturing mass) so I'd suggest that you rephrase the sentence.

Example found through Google:

"...at four weeks after operation with replacement of the stent because of slight stricturing of the common hepatic duct"

Google came up with one hit on stricturing mass, so \"a stricturing, superficially growing mass\" would be ok. after all:

\"...stricturing mass in the ileo-caecum of a middle-aged. male, which was discovered in the course of a diagnostic evaluation\"
