French term

en entrée

French to English Bus/Financial Aerospace / Aviation / Space Quality control
I am translating a set of documents presenting a company's system of quality control/record keeping etc. This is from an excel file with several tabs: ENTREE, CYCLE, Ki, PENALITE etc. I'm not quite sure what is meant by 'en entrée' in the following sentence -

Apprécier la variation du flux des anomalies en entrée d'une année sur l'autre

it also comes up here -

Nombre de nouvelles anomalies en entrée du processus de traitement constatée chaque année

is this 'incoming'? My deadline is unfortunately first thing tomorrow (28th Sept)

Discussion

Sue Davis (asker) Sep 27, 2017:
Many thanks to both - looking at the context I think it may refer to input of data on anomalies into a file
Tony M Sep 27, 2017:
@ Asker I think Nathalies "at input" is possibly slightly more applicable than your own suggestion of "incoming" — after all, it is not unreasonable to imagine in any system that many 'anomalies' would have been filtered out on an incoming 'stream'; however, despite the fact they are not in themselves anomalous, certain situations might prove to be an anomaly at the moment of input: for example, the correct part, free from faults, arrives at the input too early / too late.
Sue Davis (asker) Sep 27, 2017:
Thanks Nathalie - it might be! It's one of those vague unspecific docs where you have to try to work out what they are talking about.

Just my take - isn't quality control all about "inputs" and "outputs"?
