French term

élément de présentation

French to English Law/Patents Cinema, Film, TV, Drama Film merchandising contract
"Chaque Partie se voit autorisée par le présent Contrat à utiliser, conformément au dit Contrat et pour les besoins de l’Opération exclusivement, tout élément qui lui sera remis par l’autre (ci-après les « Eléments »), ou qu’elle aura créé en accord avec l’autre pour les besoins des présentes conformément à l’Article 5 ci-après (ci-après les « Articles »)."

"Par Eléments relatif à ABC, on entend le logo de ABC et tout texte, logo, élément de présentation de ABC."

Where ABC is an organisation that is purchasing certain rights in relation to a film. I always find 'élément' difficult to translate anyway, but here the meaning is pretty obscure (at least to me).

aspect of presentation

Hello,

To me, "élément" means "aspect." They're saying that a logo is an aspect of ABC's presentation (how it identifies itself).

element = essential aspect

Example sentence (different context, but same meaning):

Tout élément de ce film relatif à Dieu n'est pas ouvert à la discusson = Any aspect of this film having to do with God is not open to discussion

I hope this helps.

I admit that it is a quite a vague word in French. But this sort of abstraction is just very French, isn't it? It reminds of the word "réalisation". You just have to pull all your hair out until you can put in simple terms in English.

neutral writeaway : how can an aspect be handed over?

No, you wouldn't say "hand over", but "transferred" (these aspects transferred over to).

I suggest that this covers text and logos, rather than actual merchandise (the latter would be implied by "item").
