In a statement made by the applicants of a Motion to Institute Proceedings, XXX "est nommé liquidateur au dossier."

Does this simply mean that XXX has been appointed as liquidator for this case?

Sorry to be so late in replying. Context is: an insurance co. owned by a father and son has been liquidated, or wound down, and the father has now incorporated another company. In the process, according to the son, his father "stole" the clientele.

more context more context would be helpful, eg: full sentence...because liquidateur can also mean "assessing/assessment officer.
