Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Mar 8, 2007:
refroidir le livre d'or There is no context for this phrase. It was the only sentence used to sign a guest book. Hence, the challenge as to what the signer meant.
Tony M Mar 7, 2007:
It all depends on that all-important missing context; a "livre d'or" in general terms is simply a "visitors' book", but what fits with your overall context?
Jonathan MacKerron Mar 7, 2007:
do you have a sentence? Hard to figure out the "refroidir" bit without more context

kill the guest book

refroidir can mean kill in Fr slang. all the ghits I got from this phrase come from a service promoting guest books on internet sites. Could it be expressing someone's or some people's dislike of these?
