Portuguese term

jardineira

Portuguese to English Other Cooking / Culinary Cooking
Is there any translation for this common Portuguese dish? I'll be glad to explain what it is, if any of you don't know what this is.

Thank you in advance!

Discussion

Amy Duncan (X) Jun 24, 2009:
Sounds like plain old stew to me! What makes it "Portuguese" or different in any way from an ordinary stew - potatoes, meat, onions, carrots, etc.? If nothing, then I'd just say "stew."
Isabel Maria Almeida Jun 24, 2009:

Enza Longo Jun 24, 2009:
Is it a type of stew? either meat or fish stew with mixed vegetables?

*****YOU COULD PUT 'PORTUGUESE' in parenthesis if you wanted, but if it's a Portuguese cook-book or sorts, one assumes it's Portuguese already, therefore not needing it in Parenthesis******

Portuguese (style) meat and vegetable stew

I think you should leave jardineira as is and put the explanation in-between parentheses, i.e. Portuguese-style meat and vegetable stew.
