Portuguese term

Os pacientes de consultorios sao majoritamente conveniados

Portuguese to English Medical Medical: Health Care presentation on Symbicort
I know that "conveniado" has been posted before relating to accounts and that it was suggested that it was a typo, but in this context can anybody suggest a good translation please?? The text refers to a group of doctors consulted regarding the use of combination anti-asthma drugs, and specifically Symbicort. Thanks.

Discussion

Heather Phillips (asker) Apr 16, 2009:
Agreed, glossary amended I originally accepted Bentevi's suggestion because this is a Brazilian document and I thought that the U.S. term was acceptable, but now agree that I should use a more general term, i.e. it's probably just referring to medical insurance in general.
Muriel Vasconcellos Apr 16, 2009:
HMOs are a US phenomenon The answer depends on the type of insurance in the particular country. If it's a Latin American country or Spain, the terminology will be different. English equivalents have been established for most of the countries.

Thanks so much for your lengthy response, I am convinced that you are right and am infinitely grateful. I would never have come up with the answer without your help.
I have actually used "have medical insurance" but greatly appreciated the background information provided.

Obrigado, Marlene.
disagree Anna Black (X) : As you say this is an American English term, it doesn't mean anything in UK English. As the asker is from the UK, I think it probably wouldn't suit.

If you had read my notes carefully, you'd have seen I posted an option where she'd just have to leave out HMO and say "insured", "medically insured" or whatever it is they say in the UK. Besides, she's an NSE.

The majority of patients of clinics are insured.

Conveniado MN is a male person covered by insurance.
Note from asker:
Many thanks for your answer, if there were not any peer agreement for Bentevi's answer I would award you the points, but I feel I must go with what is confirmed by other people.
