English term

New York bohemia

English to Spanish Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
"Lewis was a Minnesotan who had fled to New York bohemia"

GRACIAS!!!

la bohemia neoyorquina

Per the RAE, this figurative usage of "bohemia" is not capitalized.

And no, it's not a toponym in this case.

I suggest avoiding a direct translation of Minnesotan. There are lots of ways around it that would just use the word "Minnesota" (which, by the way, is generally written the same in Spanish as in English).

"...natural de Minnesota..."
"Lewis había huido de Minnesota..."
etc.

On a completely unrelated topic: I just noticed that you've asked more than 20 questions and have never helped anyone else out on here... You might want to consider pitching in a bit.

Peer comment(s):

And about "había huido de su Minnesota natal...", perfect... I honestly think that both Steven and you are right...
