A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).
Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.
When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.
* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

: Yes, but 'facing' isn't really relevant for a smoking area — it doens't matter which way it is facing, the key point it is open to the outdoor air.

Because this refers to a smoking area with an exit point, I would prefer this translation. "Opening onto" would be perfect in another context, such as a master bedroom opening onto a lovely terrace overlooking the sea, etc. It will still work here just fine, but I think that when it comes to smokers, they are looking for an urgent escape for a cigarette! (like after an international flight....get me outside! it's an emergency!) and so they need access to the outside.
Just my thinking.

: Over-interpretation: we don't KNOW it actually offers access to the outside — it could just have bay windows, for example, for fresh air. E.g. building with access control: windows for fresh air, but no ingress / egress by persons.

My interpretation is that it does open to the outside, but of course it will depend on context. I would be surprised if there wasn't a door to the outside. Maybe though, you never know.

: Nothing in the source text states there is actual ACCESS to the outside; it may for example be a totally enclosed outside space with 6 foot high walls; I have seen such areas for smokers

I wouldn't rule out an outdoor enclosure as outside access, from a smoker's point of view. I have also seen such areas. It will all depend on the context of the text.
