CAP files in across client

Hi

I received CAP files from a client, but I cannot find the area where to enter the username and password. Can anyone assist? I have the Basic Translator Edition. I have only used it once but never logged onto the client with a username etc. Hope someone can assist as it is due ASAP. There is mention of something called a Retrieve Wizard. Thank you- could not find this topic elsewhere. Sorry if it has already been responded to.

When you start Across first time, a login window appears. After you login, this window will appear:

Click 'Add new', then click 'Import'.

Tried but goes to my files.. Nov 14, 2022

I did that.. but it does not give me a window to log into any server. It goes directly to my documents to open a file but it will not open anything … I assume I need to use the username and password given by the client but there is no area to put that in.. does the free version give you that option? I’m so confused. Any ideas?

This is because you have to open your license first (the cap file). Then you will be able to enter the password.

When you click 'Add new' > 'Import', can you see a window like this?

If yes, can you browse to your cap file? What happens when you do that and click Open?

The cap files comes up yes but I can’t choose the files… and the screen for crossweb does not come up. …I’m clueless and the deadline is approaching. Ai..

Can you share a screenshot of the window? I can't imagine how is it possible that you can't browse to your file folder. I am not a mac user but there must be some folder finder/navigation functionality.

I tried to send it. Apparently it’s not attaching. Im on a PC. It will let me see the section that says cap files but I can’t choose any files.. and then it will not let me log in. Very strange. Trying to a screenshot again

It does not give me the option to select any files. I can see the screen to open cap files but it won’t let me select any and I can’t log in to the clients user name etc/server. So strange.

No cap files in that folder Nov 14, 2022

From your screenshot I can see that there is no cap files in that folder (Translations...).
Try to save the cap file on your desktop and browse there. Make sure the cap file is unzipped.

Confusing Nov 14, 2022

This is new to me. I usually use Trados but this client wants Across. I can see the file in projects but I still can’t open it or log on. Unless it’s all wrong. I can’t seem to unzip it..

Is it Windows or Mac under Parallels? You said you are on a PC. Probably the registered file extensions are hidden, that is why it can't see the file. Can you reply in skype to me please, I sent you a request.
