É o que diz o dicionário visual SBS trilíngüe. O que se trata por 'região do flanco' é o próprio 'flanco', a lateral do pneu. Esta foto no Merriam-Webster mostra. O 'cordão' ou 'filete' de borracha aparece como 'rubbing strip' e há algumas outras definições:
