In a Western film dialogue, depicting a stranger arrival to a town in 19th century:
- Yes, sir, you know, I had a little bet with myself that I'd run into you withing ten minutes after I got into town. Yeah, you're the town character, aren't you? You know, the Cracker Barrel Philosopher. Yah, the fella you find in every town who's sort of delegated to tell all the funny jokes.
- (laughing) Crackel Barrel Philosopher... That's a dinger, young fella.
Considering the action takes place in 19th century, I don't think it's baseball slang, though. But still it could be an anachronism.
Any tips and/or documentation will be welcome!
