Portuguese term

fila de trânsito

Portuguese to English Other Transport / Transportation / Shipping
May I refer to "fila de trânsito" as "traffic line" or is it too ambigous? Can it replace traffic queue?
Thanks

line of traffic

Sounds most natural to my ears.

Can't tell from lack of context, but your text may be referring to a "traffic jam" or "backed up traffic".

I'd say "traffic jam" is the everyday, informal term. For something a little more formal you can also talk about "traffic congestion" or "congested traffic"

Example sentence:

Color Line represents more than one hundred years of continuous line of traffic between Norway and Europe.

They were stuck in a line of traffic.

Note from asker:
well, "fila de trânsito" does only refer to queues of traffic caused by traffic jams...so in this context( I'm not refering to the "pavement lines"), which would fit best?
Peer comment(s):

agree Gilmar Fernandes : "Traffic jam" would certainly solve the ambiguity problem that the Asker is worried about, so I would use it instead of these other options which are correct, but don't quite make the grade.
