I realise that enjeux can mean stakes, or issues, perhaps even challenges. And normally devoir is a duty, a must. In this context I am not sure any of these words fit and am unsure how to best translate it. This part of the text is generally talking about how documentary photographs can relate to memory and history.

Discussion
duties of memory = racism of the past, for example, remembered by a society so isn't repeated
matters of memory = conflicts in memory from different groups/sides; a different interpretation of historical events?
