Danish term

ophævet

Danish to English Medical Medical (general) Reflex test results
Hi - I'm getting stuck trying to verify "ophævet" when used in the context of reflexes and f waves as below - is this in the sense of eliminated or raised (elevated). It appears in a patient record as follows:

Reflekserne er ophævet i både over- og underekstremiteter.

Reflekserne kan ikke udløses d.d. - altså ophævede refl. i både OE og UE.

Der findes nedsat vibrationssans i både UE og OE i forhold til sternum, men ikke ophævet.

Ophævede F-waves tydede på proksimalt blok.

Thanks for your help!

absent

The reflexes are absent in both the upper and lower extremities.

The reflexes cannot be triggered d.d. - thus absent reflexes in both OE and UE.

There is a reduced sense of vibration in both UE and OE in relation to the sternum, but not absent.

Absent F-waves indicated proximal block.

agree Lene Henriksen : I agree. "Absent" is definitely the correct term in this context.

Danish term (edited): ophæve/t

abolish/ed

I thought 'aufheben' in German was an ambiguous joker-word par excellence: 'damit ist der Unterschied aufgehoben' (a German philosopher, possibly Hegel): 'the distinction is thereby saved vs. done away with.' Cut to Diarmuid K's eliminating white from the eyes in the previous ProZ question dating back 12 years.

The verb looks in this context like a variation on 'optage' = record, though I cannot find any confirmation of such e.g. on the IATE glossary database.
