I am translating the subtitles for a drag queen show and when it comes to votes, one participant got straight As (so top marks) and a pair of double DDs, which of course refers both the rather low school mark (D) and to the bra size they might be wearing. I am not sure how to translate this pun in Italian, where I think we give marks as numbers (top mark being 10) while we keep letters for bra sizes. Any suggestions? Thanks

By referring to the bra size instead of the bra cup, at least you can swap both letters for numbers, and save that part of the pun.

L'ho adattato un po', per inserirlo nel contesto, e alla fine ho tradotto 'Tutti 10 e promossa alla 5a per buona misura', che mi sembrava funzionasse dato il contesto di gara tra drag queen ben 'equipaggiate' in un ambito 'scolastico'. Grazie ancora. Non lo metto nel glossario perché si tratta di un caso un po' particolare. |
