: Pensando bem, fica estranho, já que o objetivo é elogiar o trabalho da dona Mariana. Por isso, rebaixei para neutro:)

: I prefer your first option - 'paired up' sounds like a temporary arrangement for a specific task. I assume there were only two people working in the kitchen.

(used to) make a formidable duo partner
Otherwise, 'formidabe duo' collocates and Googles well with well-known footballers.
Anna Walker and Jane Godwin together are a formidable duo. We loved having them in store
Described as “a formidable duo partner that adapts well to each style and mood and maintains an impressive level of technical assurance and musicianship”
doubled up; used to double up
double up: form a pair to do something such as share a room. (Oxford Languages Dictionary and Google).
The choice between "doubled up" and "used to double up" will depend on additional context. The context provided is not sufficient to draw a safe conclusion.

Discussion
It should not be assumed that there are two people in the kitchen if it's not clear on the example sentence.
A duet could also mean a performance and may be a flowery way of saying she did 'miracles' in this areas.
Or I could be completely wrong
