Change log

Jun 13, 2012 07:24: writeaway changed "Field" from "Overig" to "Sociale wetenschappen" , "Field (specific)" from "Certificaten, diploma's, vergunningen, CV's" to "Onderwijs / pedagogie"

Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

Non-PRO (1): LouisV (X)

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

Joanneketayl (X) Jul 20, 2012:
Social Studies Social Studies is what most High School use for what you are describing. I hope this helps!
Michael Beijer Jun 13, 2012:
@La Classe: a little more context would be useful! e.g., is this the name of a specific programme you are trying to translate? some of the surrounding text? etc
La Classe (asker) Jun 13, 2012:
I am unable to find its translation
writeaway Jun 13, 2012:
dictionaries/online sources have you already rejected the translations found in dictionaries and/or online sources? Is there a specific problem?

Social Sciences Education

The University of Utrecht has a master's programme called 'Mens- en Maatschappijonderwijs en Communicatie', which they translate as 'Social Sciences Education and Communication'. See:

'This master's programme is officially registered under the name Mens- en Maatschappijonderwijs en Communicatie (code 60747).' (http://www.uu.nl/university/international-students/EN/ecoedu... )

This Master's programme is officially registered under the name Social Sciences Education and Communication (code 60747).

Peer comment(s):

agree Tina Vonhof (X) : But as a subject in school, it is 'social science'. // The U of U said it correctly and so did you because this is about a course for (future) teachers and it means 'the teaching of social sciences'.

Good point. I missed that, as did the University of Utrecht apparently;) // Ahaa. Hmm. There seems to be no way to remove my Note. Oh well.

human and social education

This is how I would translate it, and it is backed up by the curriculum policies I have found online for primary and secondary schools:

http://www.sydenhamhighschool.gdst.net/project/uploaded-medi...
http://www.godolphinandlatymer.com/_files/main_policies/curr...
http://www.sunderlandhigh.co.uk/upload/files/curriculum_poli...
Example sentence:

The breadth of the curriculum, up to school leaving age, gives girls experience in linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, human and social education, physical and aesthetic and creative education.
