French term

à l'arrêt

French to English Tech/Engineering Nuclear Eng/Sci safety training materials for nuclear site
The term is from a Powerpoint presentation on safety procedures at a French nuclear site, and describes the activities taking place there.
The complete sentence- it's just a bullet point- is "Repli d’activités d’installations à l’arrêt"
I think it's to do with winding down of activities but I need some help here.
Thank you in advance.

Discussion

David Sirett Aug 4, 2012:
So, not a power plant... as uranium fluorides are not processed at power plants. See, even that helps, as "repli" has a specific meaning (remote shutdown in an emergency) in a power plant context.
Karen Vincent-Jones (X) (asker) Aug 4, 2012:
Nuclear plant I'm afraid the other bullet points on the slide are little help.
One is 'conversion of uranium tetrafluoride into uranium hexafluoride', and the other is 'production of fluoride needed for conversion process'.
David Sirett Aug 4, 2012:
Context? As Gurudutt says, we need more context, to distinguish between an outage for maintenance or inspection and other types of shutdown, including final shutdown for decommissioning. You haven't even told us what kind of nuclear site it is, though we're assuming it's a power plant.
Gurudutt Kamath Aug 3, 2012:
Repli In my rough translation, I have translated "repli" wrongly. If you can provide more context (Heading of the slide, other bullet points -- or what you think repli means in the slide context: I would like to provide a correct translation of the sentence -- if required.) Of course, you can handle it on your own too.

BTW, seems like, it could be: Withdrawal of construction activities on closure. (which would mean this is stoppage of a new plant under construction)

after the stoppage

on stoppage. Closure and shutdown are equally good. Basically, we are talking about the stoppage of the nuclear plant for maintenance. Suggesting this from memory (as I was unable to find the latest TM -- in an old TM someone has used stop!) (Thanks to Nuclear accidents and protests -- closure, shutdown and stoppage also mean something else! Hence, difficult to find references to provide to you.) Repli d’activités d’installations à l’arrêt = (my rough translation) Restart of installation after the stoppage.

Ouch! In my hurry -- have translated Repli wrongly. It is not Restart.
