filé à milanesa
chicken-fried steak

Explanation:
I know it sounds funny, but that's exactly how people order it at restaurants. After I noticed that my husband had ordered it, I said in protest: "That's not chicken! That's steak!" And then he explained to me that, yes, it is steak that was "fried in the chicken style..."

Chicken fried steak - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Country Fried Steak or Chicken Fried Steak as it is commonly referred to, is a food preparation associated with Southern U.S. cuisine. ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicken-fried_steak

If you think about the history behind it, everything makes sense. The deep-frying method was introduced in the U.S. by African slaves. They mostly used chicken back then and the recipe was made famous by Colonel Sanders and the Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) chain. Therefore, when you order deep-fried steak you're ordering a steak moisten in eggs and battered in bread crumbs ("à milanesa," as Brazilians say due to the Italian influence.)
