This is a translation of a patent application review. I am trying to understand the context of the word "objeto" here. There are two occurrences of "objeto". However, I am interested in understanding the first occurrence i.e "uma descrição clara e precisa do objeto". Could it be "purpose"?

The sentence is as below:
"de forma a prover não apenas uma descrição clara e precisa do objeto como da matéria objeto da proteção"

Mark Robertson Sep 10, 2020: More info needed Not nearly enough context. What sort of patent is it? Design or utility? What is patented? The first "objecto" could be object or purpose, more probably object. The second "objecto" is the subject matter of the protection provided by the patent.

Alex Jenkins Sep 10, 2020: You have to be very careful when translating patents as they require verbatim interpretation, but let's assume that this is less formal, and I think your suggestion of "purpose" is just fine for the first instance of "objeto", as in a 'clear and precise description of the purpose of the request itself...'.
