This term is used in an explanation pf the process used to print lottery tickets. I have searched everywhere and cannot find an English equivalent. I was told that it may refer to "spot crushes", but when I look up "spot crushes" I cannot find anything.
Context:
São corrigidas as definições de cor, definidos os esmagamentos do ponto utilizando um sistema de motor de automatização para fazer o RIP e separados todos os ficheiros digitais para fazer a correspondência com as definições de calibragem na impressão.

Explanation:
Actually, even in portuguese I'm not finding an explanation for esmagamentos do ponto. It's very technical, specific... I think dot crushes or spot crushes can work.

Only an idea put forward for consideration.
