Bjørnar Magnussen Nov 6, 2006:
I am studying at SGH at the moment, and I think you have the same expression in Polish, i.e. "a conto". It comes from Italian. See e.g. http://www.finanse.egospodarka.pl/10177,a-conto,1,57,1.html

bills/invoices on open account

This means that a customer is simply billed for all goods and services rendered each month. It's the most common invoicing system for steady customers. Sometimes it's referred to as a running account. It is DEFINITELY NOT a pro forma invoice. A conto is a older Swedish term for löpande konto

on-account invoices

Several Google Hits for "on-account invoice".
"a conto" / "à conto" means "on account" and "fakturor" is the plural of "faktura" (= invoice).

I'm not really an expert on this, but I think they are different things. According to my English-Swedish dictionary
"pro forma invoice" is simply "proformafaktura" in Swedish.
Note from asker:
Thank you Mark. A Polish/Swedish translator told me it means pro-forma invoices. Could she be correct?
