Again, I wondered if anyone can offer any suggestions as to the most suitable English term for this word, for a presentation about supermarket sales

food item

Just an alternative to foodstuffs or food. However, food item is convenient to use since it can be combined with non-food items.

foodstuff

I would use "groceries" for "dagligvaror" and "foodstuff" for "livsmedel".

Ref 1: "Livsmedel är ett ämne eller en produkt avsedd att användas som mat eller dryck."

Ref 2: "Definition of foodstuffs. A foodstuff is regarded as any item of food or drink, or any other commodity, intended for. human consumption"

groceries

I agree with both of the other answers, but you don't specify the audience for the presentation; groceries might be the preferred term even though it isn't as specific.

agree Janis Abens : As it is for a sales presentation, this is the consumer- friendly term

provisions/food

This is what I've usually known them as (foodstuffs = for animal food in my experience, food for humans).
