Swedish to English Tech/Engineering IT (Information Technology) technology
Does anyone know what's meant by "användarnära" in English please? Does it literally mean IT products/faciliites that are in the proximity of the user(s) or is it another "nice" way of saying user-friendly? I doubt the latter but want to know if I'm thinking along the right lines.

Relevant example off Google:
Inom det vi kallar för användarnära tjänster tar vi fullt funktions- och supportansvar för användarnas åtkomst till olika applikationer och system.

Another reference in case it makes a difference Ramavtalsområdet syftar till att tillgodose det breda och gemensamma behovet av användarnära funktioner inom IT-området IT-drifttjänster, utgående från respektive avropande myndighets eget behov.

Inom ramavtalsområdet ligger fokus på att klienter anskaffas och driftas på myndigheten som funktion.

Med klienter avses såväl mobil som fast IT-utrustning som användare nyttjar direkt. Utrustningen är klientdatorer (med kringutrustning), multimediautrustning (med kringutrustning) och skrivare (med kringutrustning). I gruppen skrivare accepteras även utrustning för inläsning och multifunktionsenheter.

Are they referring to functions/items that are used directly or almost directly by the end user rather than services that form a remote link to technoligy being used by the end user?

After reading around, I take this to be services that the user uses/sees at his end
There may be a lot of other stuff going on 'in the background ' that makes it all possible, but he doesn't see or use this directly even if it is to his advantage

The Norwegian term is brukernære. It refers to providing services where the users are, rather than making the user go somewhere else in order to use the services. It is a way of saying that things are on-site.
