Discussion

Norskpro Mar 5, 2013:
I agree with you. Perhaps 'visionary goal' is a good term.
Jenny Tollet (asker) Mar 4, 2013:
Still uncertain Strategic objective is the term given by google translate. Perhaps indeed because Sven Petersson made this translation all those years ago. However, I find that it does not quite fit with my "picture" of målbild. Målbild implies the whole, something larger than objective. From texts I have read objective is often used for short-term goals or at least implies something smaller than a goal. And obviously målbilden is bigger than just one goal. But perhaps it changes by making it into strategic goal? Perhaps it is not quite right but maybe there is no better term?

Strategic objective

This term was already translated by Sven Petersson in May 2006. Please refer to

agree Lene Johansen : I understand that strategic objectives does not fit your mental picture of what målbild is, but it is what an American corporation would use in place of that term.

ideal

I tend to find that "ideal" used as a noun works quite well in cases such as this.

I hope this helps.

targets

I would say "targets" (or target, depending upon context and other information).

Or as an alternative, "targeted goals"

Vision Statement or Mission Statement

...or just Vision or Mission. A Vision Statement includes what the company wants to accomplish in the future, while a Mission Statement includes values and goals at a present state.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Norskpro : I agree that 'vision' is a good term here.
