Er... May 5, 2017

Of course I look at the subject matter first, but this is obviously not the only consideration. So I said "subject matter" for lack of a "mix of the above" option.

Well... May 5, 2017

I haven’t done any formal CPD for some time, but if I did the most important factors would be:

1. Course subject matter
2. Reputation of course provider
3. Location
4. Cost

Development from which point/level/stance? May 5, 2017

Accessibility of appropriate effective "step forward" and its availability with respect to other professional duties and engagements. Numerous programs offer far less than their ads promise, but they bring some serendipitous insights that also need time and context as to get built into previously adopted knowledge. Some other are just what I need, but scheduled for when I have to be elsewhere. Etc

I don't do any May 5, 2017

After a couple of decades translating, I think it's probably too late for me to consider "developing" my "professional" persona, and I seem to get on quite well being my usual scatty, disorganised, unprofessional self. I'm afraid this is about as good as it gets.

I'm the complete article, darling May 5, 2017

Seriously, though, it's hard to imagine learning anywhere near as much from any training course as I get out of all those little bits of highly targeted research that are part and parcel of most translations.

A combination of May 5, 2017

1. Subject matter;
2. Reputation;
3. Cost;
4. Pace.

Location really does not matter, as I used to take online courses.

Time/day May 5, 2017

I'd say time and day is one factor to consider. I am doing Catalan courses in modules and the first thing I consider is the time of day. I need to be available to clients, so evening is the only option.

CPD from my desk at home May 5, 2017

There is no course in this world that can possibly be more effective than doing the CPD from your own desk at home.
