No data Nov 4, 2017

You never know where you are unless you have some data from other translators. Certainly, you can make some guess from demand, but it is still too vague. How can you compare it when you do not know what are the rates, quality and turnaround at a dozen of other translators?

So, I feel this poll is better to readdress to agencies: what are their freelancers compared to the market overall trends.

Ven what? Nov 4, 2017

Well, I am good, average speed, reasonably priced - but as you know, everything is relative!

Venn diagram: Nov 4, 2017

This old chestnut: which sector do you reckon you're in? And I disagree about the comment on 'not having enough data' - if you don't know where you stand in this diagram, you shouldn't be in the business! And interestingly, nearly a quarter are saying "other" (which probably means they're deluding themselves that they're in the non-existent middle sector!)

Pity that many clients do not know this diagram. Nov 4, 2017

Or, even worse, they know it, however, they are special, therefore it does not apply to them. Also, should a translation user complain; they quickly pass the bucket to you.

No modesty allowed Nov 4, 2017

This type of poll does not allow any modesty.

I translate faster than the average, as confirmed in several earlier polls and other sites, with high quality, compliments from most clients, long-term clients and big projects, and my price is below the average rate of translators in Europe and North America.

I'm sorry, but i fit into the black area that says "this doesn't exist", so I don't exist, so no one is going to read this comment.

I was not able to click on any of the options. Quality is paramount. Speed is the optimum speed at which you can produce that quality, which also relates to efficiency of procedure, experience, and knowing which projects to opt out of because we can't be qualified in all subject areas. If you produce quality at optimum speed, price should also be commensurate.

The thing is that this (the balance) also varies from project to project, I'd think.

Affordability Nov 5, 2017

I'm reasonably fast, I produce top quality. I'm also affordable, in that those too stingy to pay for my services are bound to regret it later. I'm not cheap though.
