Positive Jul 26, 2022

All in all, it was positive, but with the usual ups and downs:

January: so, so
February; good
March: excellent
April: so, so
May: very good
June: good

July will be very good as after two very quiet weeks I have two big projects: a 35,000 words translation EN-PT and a 28,000 revision FR-PT. That's the life of a freelancer!

I was on an upward curve back in Feb 2020 which was my peak month since starting to freelance, then Covid smashed it all to pieces. Since Jan 22 I feel like I have managed to get back to where I left off, and I'm now averaging that peak from Feb 20, so definitely very positive for me. I'm now enjoying, not exactly a lull, but a quieter time, so I can get most of my work done in the morning before my partner even gets up, then take some time to do stuff together (he being retired now).

Negative Jul 26, 2022

Actually I was on downward curve during the first semester of this year. But thank God that at least I am still having my saving and I hope things will get better to me as an English-Indonesian translator and to all translators reading this.

Same as most years Jul 26, 2022

Jobs with identical deadlines, unpredictable gaps between offers. The current summer has been unusually slow, however.

So and so Jul 26, 2022

Not fantastic.
Some good news, some good projects.
The problem is discontinuity.

Fantastic Jul 26, 2022

If it goes on like that, I will hit the 100k mark this year. I am happy and thankful that everything goes so well.

Strong in my pair/area Jul 26, 2022

JA-EN financial translation has been busy all year.
I'm turning down work through lack of capacity and fatigue.

Very bad Jul 26, 2022

Very bad. I did get some interesting jobs, including a book on dentistry, but not even a drop in the tsunami of bills I have to pay. Brazil, which was already in a deep crisis, was very badly hit by covid and many companies went bust or pulled out of the country (Ford being the most notable case).
